Why Read This? The one-sentence sell. What do you get for showing up to this book, even when it's hard?

A regular human stumbles into the supernatural world when her PR job goes sideways — Armstrong flips the script by telling an Otherworld story through the eyes of someone who has no idea this world exists.

Synopsis

A cast of characters trapped within their roles of dragon hunter, princess, and more must come together to take their fates into their own hands. Dragons are common in the backwater kingdom of Bellemontagne, coming in sizes from mouse-like vermin all the way up to castle-smashing monsters. Gaius Aurelius Constantine Heliogabalus Thrax (who would much rather people call him Robert) has recently inherited his deceased dad’s job as a dragon catcher/exterminator, a career he detests with all his heart in part because he likes dragons, feeling a kinship with them, but mainly because his dream has always been the impossible one of transcending his humble origin to someday become a prince's valet. Needless to say, fate has something rather different in mind…

At a Glance

This is the most thriller-oriented book in the series, with virtually no romance on page. Robyn Peltier is a human outsider — she doesn't know supernaturals exist, which gives the story a unique fish-out-of-water tension that the other books lack. Hope and Karl carry the supernatural thread from Personal Demon while Robyn provides the grounded human perspective. The multi-POV structure keeps things moving at a clip. If you're reading for romance, temper expectations — this one is pure suspense. But as an entry point into how Armstrong handles non-supernatural characters discovering the Otherworld, it's compelling.

No intimate scenes on page. Romance between Hope and Karl continues from Personal Demon but happens entirely off-page. This is a thriller/mystery first and foremost.

Getting SteamyGentle kinks. Fun but nothing too crazy. The appetizer, so to speak.
