Why Read This? The one-sentence sell. What do you get for showing up to this book, even when it's hard?

If you loved For the Wolf but wanted Neve's story told in full shadow and teeth, this delivers. The sister bond anchors everything - even when Neve is making deals with dead gods in a crumbling underworld. Solmir's redemption arc hits different when you watch it unfold through the eyes of someone who has every reason not to trust him.

Synopsis

While her sister Red returned from the Wilderwood, Neve did not. Trapped in the Shadowlands with Solmir — one of the Five Kings, a villain with centuries of blood on his hands — Neve must drain the Old Kings of their power before the underworld collapses entirely. The price keeps rising, and so does the understanding that Solmir is not quite the monster she assumed. Dark enemies-to-lovers in a dying realm where every choice costs something permanent.

At a Glance

This is the book where you finally get inside Neve's head and realize she was never the villain of her own story. The Shadowlands are suffocating and beautiful in equal measure, and watching Neve and Solmir circle each other - two morally gray people trapped in the dark - is the kind of tension that makes you forget to breathe. Read it curled up somewhere warm, because this one runs cold.

Spice StyleNot just how much spice, but what kind. Emotional intimacy? Explicit but vanilla? Plot-driven heat? Know your flavor.

Tension-driven with slow build. Intimate scenes are atmospheric and emotionally charged rather than graphic - the darkness of the Shadowlands bleeds into the romance.

Getting SteamyGentle kinks. Fun but nothing too crazy. The appetizer, so to speak.
