Why Read This? The one-sentence sell. What do you get for showing up to this book, even when it's hard?

You'll understand the early seeds of revolution and root for the resistance fighters before the main series begins.

Synopsis

Farley was raised to be strong, but being tasked with planting the seeds of rebellion in Norta is a tougher job than expected. As she travels the land recruiting black market traders, smugglers, and extremists for her first attempt at an attack on the capital, she stumbles upon a connection that may prove to be the key to the entire operation—Mare Barrow.

At a Glance

A short prequel novella (100 pages) that gives Captain Farley her own story before the events of Red Queen. Told through first-person narration mixed with coded Scarlet Guard transmissions, it is a fast, tense read that fills in rebellion backstory and the beginnings of Farley and Shade relationship. Romance is minimal and closed-door - this is about revolution first. Essential companion reading for Red Queen fans, but not a standalone experience.
