Why Read This? The one-sentence sell. What do you get for showing up to this book, even when it's hard?

The payoff for seven books of buildup. Every thread resolves—Snape, the Hallows, the Horcruxes, the prophecy. The Battle of Hogwarts is devastating and triumphant in equal measure. The Prince s Tale chapter alone is worth the entire series.

Synopsis

Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him... In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectacular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited.

At a Glance

The darkest and most emotionally punishing entry in the series. This is a war novel disguised as YA fantasy. Harry walks willingly toward his own death in one of the most gut-wrenching scenes in modern fiction. The Snape reveal recontextualizes the entire series. Romance is barely a footnote—one kiss, one reunion. But the epilogue delivers a genuine happily ever after nineteen years later. Read this when you are ready to feel everything at once.
