Book 4 in Carissa Broadbent's Crowns of Nyaxia series and the conclusion of the Shadowborn Duet (following The Songbird and the Heart of Stone). The series is 6 books total in three duets—Nightborn, Shadowborn, Bloodborn—and is NOT yet complete (books 5-6 still forthcoming). Mische is a sunshine-coded former priestess grappling with religious trauma and mortality; Asar is a grief-consumed scholar-god descending into darkness. The spice is moderate with open-door scenes in chapters 19, 32, 48, and 52—slightly spicier than earlier Broadbent books. Content warnings are heavier than typical romantasy: grooming and sexual assault are discussed (not depicted), religious trauma is a central theme, and the violence is graphic.
