Why Read This? The one-sentence sell. What do you get for showing up to this book, even when it's hard?

Readers get a satisfying emotional journey of grief, healing, and finding love again, with a swoon-worthy romance that delivers both laughs and heartfelt moments.

Synopsis

This is the second book in the companion series The Friend Zone . Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can't seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back. Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

At a Glance

Jimenez is one of the few romance authors who writes grief without either wallowing in it or skipping past it—Sloan's two years of stalled-out living feel completely real before Tucker the dog arrives and upends everything. The relationship developing through text messages and calls before Sloan meets Jason in person is exactly as swoony as it sounds, and the music element gives the romance a specific texture that other books in this lane don't have. Cry warning is not optional; it is a guarantee.
