Why Read This? The one-sentence sell. What do you get for showing up to this book, even when it's hard?

Sophie Kim weaves Korean mythology into a love story that spans lifetimes. The murder mystery keeps the plot tight while the romance earns every moment of its slow burn. Seokga is the kind of immortal love interest who makes you feel the weight of centuries in a single look.

Synopsis

Seokga, a trickster god grieving the loss of his soulmate Hani, follows the red thread of fate to a cruise ship in the afterlife. There he finds Hani reincarnated as Yoo Kisa, a gwisin with no memory of her past life. When the Heavenly Emperor is murdered aboard the ship, Seokga and Kisa must work together to solve the crime - forcing them to confront what they once were to each other and what they might become.

At a Glance

If you loved The God and the Gumiho, this sequel goes deeper - heavier grief, sharper mystery, richer mythology. Seokga grieving across literal lifetimes while Kisa has zero memory of what they were is the kind of ache that settles into your chest. The Korean afterlife worldbuilding is gorgeous, and Sophie Kim's wit keeps it from drowning in its own angst.
